Former “Vampire Diaries” star Steven R. McQueen has joined the cast of NBC’s “Chicago Fire,” Variety has learned.
McQueen has signed on for a recurring role and will play the new candidate, Jimmy Borelli. His character makes a dramatic entrance on his first day of work, and that doesn’t sit well with his boss, Chief Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker).
Best known for playing Jeremy Gilbert on the CW’s “Vampire Diaries,” McQueen exited the show as a series regular last season.
“Chicago Fire” is exec produced by Dick Wolf, Matt Olmstead, Derek Haas, Michael Brandt, Danielle Gelber, Joe Chappelle, Arthur Forney and Peter Jankowski.
McQueen is repped by UTA and Risa Shapiro at MGMT Entertainment.
