HBO has given a six-episode limited series order to “Codes of Conduct,” the high society drama from “12 Years a Slave” director Steve McQueen.

The project will follow Beverly Snow, a young African American man (newcomer Devon Terrell) as he nudges his way into New York’s creme de la creme — despite a past that may not be what it seems. The cast also stars Helena Bonham Carter, Paul Dano and Rebecca Hall.

McQueen is directing all episodes and serves as co-writer with Matthew Michael Carnahan, who penned the U.S. adaptation of “State of Play.” Both are exec producing, along with Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Russell Simmons and Alan Poul.

Deadline Hollywood first reported the news.
