Donald Trump, Ted Cruz To Appear on Stephen Colbert’s ‘Late Show’

Donald Trump will take the stage at CBS’ “Late Show with Stephen Colbert” just ten days after making a similar appearance on NBC’s “Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” a signal of how coveted the current crop of candidates for U.S. President are by the nation’s late-night talk shows in their continued quest to woo audiences.

Trump is slated to appear on “Late Show”  on Tuesday, September 22, along with U.S. Secretary of Energy Dr. Ernest Moniz. Meanwhile, Ted Cruz, another member of the Republican field of candidates, is slated to join Colbert on Monday, September 21.

The program, which launched this week, is attempting to differentiate itself from competitors like “Tonight” and ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” by booking politicians, government officials and other guests who don’t necessarily hail from Hollywood and the world of entertainment. To be sure, those folks are welcome on the program, which in its first two nights has welcomed both George Clooney and Scarlett Johansson.

Others guests slated to appear during the week of September 21 include Hugh Evans,  founder of the Global Poverty Project; Senator Elizabeth Warren; author Andrew Sullivan; activist Maria Shriver; and Nobel Prize Laureate Malala Yousafzai.
