‘Spartacus’ Star Liam McIntyre Cast as ‘Flash’ Villain Weather Wizard

Spartacus is coming to Central City. Variety has confirmed that Liam McIntyre, who played the slave-turned-rebel leader in seasons three and four of the cult Starz series, will play Mark Mardon, brother to Clyde (Chad Rook) — who was the first meta-human to tangle with the Flash (Grant Gustin) in the series premiere.

After his brother’s untimely death, Mark returns to Central City to get justice, using his powers — similar to Clyde’s ability to control the weather — to go on a rampage in order to find the man that shot Clyde: Joe West (Jesse L. Martin). McIntyre will appear in episodes 15 and 16 of the freshman series.

McIntyre will be the first “Spartacus” alum to venture to “The Flash,” but many of the thesp’s former co-stars already inhabit the superhero’s world, thanks to guest appearances on “Flash’s” sister series and antecedent, “Arrow.” Fellow “Spartacus” alums who have appeared in Starling City include Manu Bennett as Deathstroke (who will return in episode 14 of “Arrow’s” third season); Nick Tarabay as Captain Boomerang; Cynthia Addai-Robinson as Amanda Waller; and Katrina Law as Nyssa al Ghul.

The Flash” returns Jan. 20 at 8 p.m. on the CW.
