ABC Family’s “Shadowhunters” has found its villainous Valentine.

“Reign” alum Alan Van Sprang joins the supernatural series as the cunning and dangerously handsome character. He will be a recurring guest star on the series.

“Shadowhunters” is based on the “Mortal Instruments” book series. It follows Clary Fray (“Happyland” and “The Fosters'” Katherine McNamara), a teenager who learns that she comes from a long line of Shadowhunters, (or human-angel hybrids who hunt down demons). When her mother is kidnapped, Clary must embrace her destiny and delve into a world of faeries, warlocks, vampires and werewolves.

Other cast members include Dominic Sherwood as Jace, a “lethally gorgeous” Shadowhunter who is very much aware of his skills, Alberto Rosende as Clary’s best friend Simon, and Emeraude Toubia as the beautiful and well-trained Shadowhunter Isabelle.

Van Sprang is repped by APA and The Arc in Canada.

“Shadowhunters” is produced by Constantin Film and exec produced by Ed Decter and McG, who will also direct the first episode.
