‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Renewed for Season 8 at Logo

“RuPaul’s Drag Race” is coming back for more. Logo TV announced the Season 8 renewal on Friday.

Production on the new season begins today with a nationwide casting call to find the “fiercest queens across the land” to compete in the eighth drag race.

Currently in its seventh season, the competition series saw ratings for its most recent premiere increase 20% from the previous season and pulled in more viewers for its second episode back.

Ross Mathews (“Hello Ross,” “Chelsea Lately”) and Carson Kressley (“Queer Eye for the Straight Guy”) joined Michelle Visage and RuPaul on the judges’ panel for Season 7, which welcomed celebrity guest judges including Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, Jessica Alba, Kat Dennings, Alyssa Milano, Jordin Sparks, Mel B, Isaac Mizrahi, Michael Urie and Kathy Griffin.

“Logo is like the Jay Z to my Beyonce,” said exec producer, RuPaul. “I was a star before we met, but together we have raised the bar to new heights, and created a brand that has taken over the world.”

Chris McCarthy, general manager of MTV2 and Logo TV, commented, “After a record-breaking year of ratings and viewership, its only fitting we would continue to rise with our first lady, RuPaul. From the cultural phenomenon of ‘Drag Race.’”
