‘Pretty Little Liars’ Casts Toby’s Mystery Woman, Yvonne (EXCLUSIVE)

Pretty Little Liars” has found the actress to play Yvonne, the mystery woman Toby (Keegan Allen) met before the five-year time jump, who has been teased as “a very important part of his life.”

Kara Royster has been cast in the recurring role, Variety has learned exclusively. Royster’s past credits include MTV’s “Faking It,” Disney’s “Liv and Maddie” and Fox’s “Scream Queens,” in which she had a minor role in one episode.

Yvonne is described as smart, sleek and classy and an important person in Toby’s life. The character will be in a total of three episodes, first appearing in the fourth episode of Season 6B.

The back-half of the sixth season picks up up after a five-year time jump. Now that the Liars have graduated high school and have been through college and experienced the working world, the new episodes will introduce viewers to the main character’s more mature young adult lives — including new love interests for the Liars, and their now ex-boyfriends and girlfriends. While Yvonne has not explicitly been called a love interest and little details on her relationship with Toby have been revealed, she will certainly be a significant figure for his storyline.

As revealed in the “5 Years Forward” special this past November, Toby (Allen) and Spencer (Troian Bellisario) are split up. Spencer went to school at Georgetown and moved to Capitol Hill to pursue her political aspirations, while Toby ended up inheriting money after the Cavanaugh house blew up and bought three acres of land to build a huge dream home right outside of Rosewood. “He was still very, very much involved in a small town,” Bellisario said of why the relationship didn’t survive the time-jump. “You get to take a romance that’s been working for six years and kind of watch the moment it all crumbles.” However, Allen — who plays everyone’s favorite cop, Toby — detailed his chance meeting with the new character, saying he walks into a robbery and arrests the suspects with a girl named Yvonne Phillips who becomes “an important person in his story and his life.”

In a new interview with Variety (full interview to come at a later date), “Pretty Little Liars” creator Marlene King offered up more details on Toby’s life without Spencer, making mention of a new character he meets.

“He’s extremely involved with someone, other than Spencer,” King says. “We’ll find out early on that with two people who grew apart, but still love each other so very much, this is the first person he’s really been able to care about since he and Spencer grew apart.”

Besides Yvonne, more new characters will be introduced in Season 6B, including Hanna’s (Ashley Benson) fiancé, Jordan, who TVLine reported will be played by Australian actor David Coussins.
