The laffer, created and exec produced by Jill Kargman (who also stars in the half-hour series), pokes fun at the ultra-wealthy society of elite cliques in New York City’s Upper East Side.
Based on her novel “Momzillas,” “Odd Mom” stars Kargman as Jill Weber, a born-and-bred Manhattanite who is well-off but seen as a charity case in the eyes of socialite-type Manhattan moms. Abby Elliott, Andy Buckley, KK Glick, Sean Kleier and Joanna Cassidy round out the cast.
In addition to Kargman, exec producers are Ken Druckerman, Banks Tarver, Tim Piper, Daniel Rosenberg, Tony Hernandez, Julie Rottenberg and Elisa Zuritsky.
“Mom and non-mom viewers alike — from Beverly Hills to Brooklyn — have found a spirit animal in Jill Kargman’s hilarious and relatable depiction of a woman struggling to keep up,” said Lara Spotts, SVP of development for Bravo Media. “We are excited to bring fans more of this vibrant and highly entertaining world driven by an amazing cast and creative team.”
The series, which wrapped season one on Aug. 3, boosted Bravo’s scripted slate, following the cable net’s scripted bow with “Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce.” The drama, starring Lisa Edelstein, was also handed a second-season renewal.
Averaging just under a million total viewers for its freshman run, “Odd Mom Out” ranks as Bravo’s highest-rated new series launch of the year.
