Nasim Pedrad has inked a deal with Twentieth Century Fox Television and Fox Broadcasting Company to write, create and star in her own show on the network, Variety has learned. The upcoming series will be exec produced by 3 Arts.
Best known for “Saturday Night Live,” on which she garnered popularity for her impression of Kim Kardashian, Pedrad left “SNL” after five seasons to join the Fox family, co-starring in the sitcom “Mulaney.” She is currently recurring on the net’s “New Girl,” now in its fourth season.
Next up, Pedrad is a series regular in Fox’s highly anticipated Ryan Murphy-created dramedy “Scream Queens.” The anthology series, exec produced by Murphy and “Glee’s” Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan, is currently shooting in New Orleans.
“Nasim’s an undeniable creative force in front of the camera and a brilliant writer-producer behind the camera,” said Jonnie David, 20th Century Fox TV president of creative affairs. “We’ve long admired her work on ‘SNL’ and ‘Mulaney,’ and we think she’ll be hugely valuable to us on the comedy side…And we can’t wait to develop with her later this year.”
Fox entertainment president David Madded added, “Nasim is not only one of the most talented comedic actresses out there today, she’s also a formidable writer with a clear, bitingly witty point of view,” said. “With her role on ‘Scream Queens’ and the ideas she’s already bringing to the table for development, we are so excited for her to be an even bigger part of the Fox family this year.”
Pedrad is represented by CAA, 3 Arts and Warren Dern.
