‘Guardians of the Galaxy,’ ‘TFIOS’ and ‘Neighbors’ Lead MTV Movie Awards Nominations

MTV announced nominees for the fan-voted 2015 MTV Movie Awards, with youth-skewing pics “Guardians of the Galaxy,” “The Fault in Our Stars” and “Neighbors” tying for most nods with seven apiece.

The kudocast will be hosted by comedian Amy Schumer (Comedy Central’s “Inside Amy Schumer”), airing Sunday, April 12, at 8 PM ET/PT from Nokia Theatre L.A. Live. The show, which the network promises will include exclusive moments from upcoming films, will air across MTV’s global network of 60-plus channels and 200 digital media properties.

Nominees in the best female performance category are Jennifer Lawrence (“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1”); Emma Stone (“Birdman”); Shailene Woodley (“Fault in Our Stars”); Reese Witherspoon (“Wild”); and Scarlett Johansson (“Lucy”). Best male perf contenders are Bradley Cooper (“American Sniper”); Chris Pratt (“Guardians of the Galaxy”); Ansel Elgort (“Fault in Our Stars”); Miles Teller (“Whiplash”); and Channing Tatum (“Foxcatcher”).

MTV selects the nominees, with winners picked based on fan votes cast at MovieAwards.MTV.com through April 11 (while voting for “Movie of the Year” will continue up until the show’s broadcast).

The MTV Movie Awards, first staged in 1992, is in large part a spoof of traditional industry awards, with oddball categories like “Best WTF Moment,” “Best Shirtless Performance” and “Best Fight.”
