Melissa Leo has joined the cast of CBS drama pilot “LFE,” Variety has learned.

“LFE” is a high-octane medical procedural following second-year residents at the top hospital in New York City, as they attempt to balance their “god complexes” with their humanity.

Leo will play Julie, an attending physician in the surgical wing and a den mother to the second-year residents.

“Teen Wolf’s” Daniel Sharman will co-star as Joe, a good-hearted, expertly talented surgical resident.

Other cast members include Ana Kayne who will play Mae — a quirky, lovable girl who is determined to be a good person and live a good life, but sometimes finds it difficult, despite her best efforts — and Annie Funke, who will play Chelsi, a genius resident working in the hospital’s internal wing.

“LFE” hails from CBS Television Studios and Paul Downs Colaizzo who penned the pilot and will serve as a co-exec producer. Dan Jinks (“Emily Owens, M.D.”), David Marshall Grant (“Smash,” “Brothers & Sisters”) and David Slade (“Hannibal”) will exec produce. Slade is set to direct the pilot.

Leo has won an Oscar, Emmy, Golden Globe and SAG Award. She will also appear in Fox’s upcoming psychological thriller event series “Wayward Pines.”

Leo is repped by CAA and Untitled Entertainment.
