Maciek Malish, an Emmy Award-winning sound editor, died Saturday after being hit by a car while on his bicycle. He was 53.
Malish is best known for his work on “Lost” and “The X-Files.” He won two Emmys for “The X-Files” and received ten Emmy nominations for his contributions to “The Tick,” “Millennium” and “Lost.” Malish also worked on “NCIS: Los Angeles,” “Undressed,” “Person of Interest” and “The Wonder Years.”
The Simi Valley resident was biking on Moorpark Road Saturday evening when a silver Saturn swerved and struck him, the LA Times reported. The driver attempted to get back in her lane, but then hit motorcyclist Jesse Cushman, 43, of Fillmore. Both Malish and Cushman died at the scene.
California Highway Patrol is investigating the fatal accident. The driver, a 26-year-old Camarillo woman, was not arrested and was taken to the hospital for minor injuries after the crash. CHP reported the driver was not on her cellphone at the time of the crash, but they are still trying to determine if distracted driving was a factor in the accident.
