Watch: ‘Lip Sync Battle’ Throws Down Season 2 Trailer

Lip Sync Battle” has offered a very meta entry for its season two trailer: footage of Christina Aguilera appearing on the show to perform a rendition of one of her own songs.

“The Voice” judge will compete on the second season of the cult Spike series with a depiction of the 2001 cover of “Lady Marmalade” she recorded with Lil’ Kim, Mýa and Pink. Just as her early aughts version did, this routine includes big hair and a corset.

The series, which is hosted by LL Cool J and Chrissy Teigen, became a social media phenom for the Viacom-owned cabler when it premiered earlier this year. A recent holiday special, which featured Joseph Gordon Levitt doing a dead-on rendition of Janet Jackson’s “Rhythm Nation” went viral and soared to the top of cable and satellite leaderboards. The series is also nominated for a NATPE Reality Breakthrough award.

As Variety exclusively reported, Viacom International Media Networks has struck a deal to air a localized version in the Philippines in February.

“Sometimes you do need a little bit of magic, and that’s what happened with ‘Lip Sync Battle,’” Casey Patterson, one of the show’s producers, recently told Variety. “I love comedy, and I love live and I love variety, so ‘Lip Sync Battle’ was just the perfect storm, and it launched the company in a really nice way right in our wheelhouse with a celebrity talent-driven, shareable, viral, new world format.”

Season two of “Lip Sync Battle” premieres at 10 p.m. Jan. 7 on Spike with a special featuring Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum. Other performers in the upcoming season will include Kevin Hart, Snoop Dogg, Olivia Munn, Shaquille O’Neal, Hayden Panettiere, Gigi Hadid, Eva Longoria, Chris Paul, Nina Dobrev, Kaley Cuoco, Josh Gad, Cee Lo Green, Joel McHale and Jim Rash.
