“Justified” star Walton Goggins has joined HBO’s comedy “Vice Principals.” Goggins will co-lead the series opposite Danny McBride.
Created by “Eastbound and Down” alums McBride and Jody Hill, “Vice Principals” tells the story of Lincoln High School and the people who almost run it – the vice principals. McBride, Hill, David Gordon Green and Stephanie Laing will exec produce.
McBride stars as Neal Gamby, divorced vice principal in charge of the school’s discipline, and Goggins plays Lee Russell, vice principal of curriculum at Lincoln, who is a conniving politician that enters into an unholy alliance with Gamby.
“Vice Principals” will be Goggins’ first series regular gig in a comedy. He previously earned an Emmy nomination for his role on “Justified,” and is currently in production on Quentin Tarantino’s “The Hateful Eight.”
He is repped by ICM Partners and manager Darris Hatch.

Also cast in the series is “Boardwalk Empire’s” Shea Whigham. He will play Ray Liptrapp, the new husband of Gamby’s ex, played by Busy Phillips, and frequent target of his hostility.
Whigham is currently recurring on ABC’s “Agent Carter.”
