Jon Bernthal Joins ‘Daredevil’ Season 2 as the Punisher

“The Walking Dead” and “Fury” star Jon Bernthal has joined the second season of Netflix’s “Daredevil” as comicbook favorite the Punisher, Marvel announced Tuesday.

The Punisher is a vigilante who aims to clean up New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen, not too different than the show’s titular superhero. However, the antihero will resort to any means necessary — no matter how lethal the results.

No details have been revealed in the way of how many episodes Bernthal will appear in, but fanboys know that the Punisher plays a big part in Daredevil’s world.

It’s the second popular comicbook TV adaptation Bernthal has found himself in, having played a memorable role as Shane Walsh in AMC’s hit “The Walking Dead” up until 2012. He also appeared in Brad Pitt’s “Fury” last year, as well as “The Wolf of Wall Street” alongside Leonardo DiCaprio.

Charlie Cox is returning to star as Daredevil, with Rosario Dawson also on board to return as Claire Temple. “Daredevil” is part of a five-project deal with Netflix, which includes “Marvel’s Defenders,” which brings together key characters from the series.

A premiere date has yet to be announced. “Daredevil” is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios for Netflix.
