Weeks before “Glee’s” series finale, Jane Lynch has locked down her next television role.

Lynch will star in CBS’ pilot “Angel From Hell,” Variety has learned.

The half-hour comedy centers around an unlikely friendship formed when a woman, Amy (Lynch), claims to be the guardian angel of another woman, Allison (yet to be cast). Lynch’s character is described as larger-than-life, brassy and flamboyant, and when she claims to be a guardian angel, Allison can’t decide if she’s actually an angel or if she’s just plain nuts.

Tad Quill (“Scrubs,” “Samantha Who?”) penned the pilot and will exec produce. Don Scardino (“30 Rock,” “2 Broke Girls”) will serve as director. CBS Television Studios will produce.

Lynch wraps up “Glee” on March 20 with its two-hour finale event.
