Characters from the vintage kids show “H.R. Pufnstuf” are set to return to TV for the first time in 45 years as guest stars in Sid and Marty Krofft’s Nickelodeon series “Mutt & Stuff.”
H.R. Pufnstuf, Cling and Clang, Freddy the Flute and the Rescue Racer will appear in a special episode of “Mutt and Stuff,” which has been picked up for another 20 episodes. “H.R. Pufnstuf” ran from 1969-1970, but repeats of the show were a mainstay of afternoon TV for most of the 1970s.
“ ‘H.R. Pufnstuf’ was the first TV show my brother and I created, so it has always held a special place in our hearts,” said Marty Krofft. “Our fans constantly ask us to bring back Pufnstuf, and we feel the vibrant world of ‘Mutt & Stuff’ is the perfect setting to revitalize these colorful characters and build excitement for new fans.”
“H.R. Pufnstuf Comes to Mutt & Stuff,” is set to premiere early next year.
