Fox’s ‘Grease: Live’ Adds Carly Rae Jepsen as Frenchy

Fox’s “Grease: Live” has found its remaining Pink Ladies, announcing Wednesday that “Call Me Maybe” singer Carly Rae Jepsen will play Frenchy and “You’re the Worst” actress Kether Donohue will play Jan in the live musical production.

David Del Rio (“Spare Parts,” “The Troop”) has also been cast as Putzie in this rendition of the classic musical centered around too-cool-for-school high school greasers, the T-Birds, and their gals, the Pink Ladies. Julianne Hough has already signed on to play good girl Sandy, who is hopelessly devoted to T-Bird leader Danny (Aaron Tveit). Vanessa Hudgens plays Pink Ladies ring leader Rizzo, Carlos PenaVega plays her beau, Kenickie, and Keke Palmer plays Marty.

Grammy Award-nominated singer Jessie J will open the event with an updated version of “Grease (Is the Word),” the Barry Gibb song first heard in the 1978 film starring Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta. “Glee” and “Annie” choreographer Zach Woodlee has also joined the production.

Grease: Live” will air at 7 p.m. Jan. 31 on Fox. A Paramount Television production, it is executive-produced by Marc Platt. Thomas Kail is the director overseeing the stage direction and Alex Rudzinski serves as the live television director.

Jepsen is repped by WME and SB Projects. Donohue is repped by ICM and Authentic. Del Rio is repped by Paradigm and Primary Wave Talent Management.
