Zachary Levi to Host Syfy Game Show ‘Geeks Who Drink’

“Chuck” alum and future “Heroes Reborn” star Zachary Levi is set to exec produce and host “Geeks Who Drink,” a weekly game show Syfy greenlit Wednesday.

The series, based on the nationwide pub trivia contest of the same name, put two teams of “trivia geeks” to the test on each episode for three rounds of rapid-fire quizzes that cover topics from pop culture to science fiction. Each team is made up three geeks — a celebrity team captain, plus two trivia pros.

Levi, a self-proclaimed nerd himself, will produce through his own production banner, the Nerd Machine.

“To be the executive producer and host of ‘Geeks Who Drink’ is an exciting opportunity to broaden my experience on both sides of the camera. ‘Geeks Who Drink’ is such a fresh take on the game show genre, and something that we at the Nerd Machine believe will resonate with everyone who loves trivia and pop culture,” commented Levi, who recently signed a first-look deal with Universal TV.

“Not only is Zachary a spectacular talent both in front of and behind the camera, he lives and breathes geekdom and is a true pioneer in bringing the nerd community together,” said Heather Olander, senior VP of alternative programming and development at Syfy. “As executive producer and host of this series, Zachary has the unparalleled ability to introduce the beloved bar game to the masses, inviting viewers at home to experience the infectious joy of the game for themselves.”

Kinetic Contact and Condé Nast Entertainment will produce the project, which will be exec produced by Levi, Chris Coelen, Karrie Wolfe, Corin Nelson, Dawn Ostroff, Joe LaBracio and Nerd Machine’s David Coleman.

“Geeks Who Drink” is set to premiere on July 16.
