Under the partnership, Auerbach will focus on both scripted and unscripted television programming.
“Gary has consistently produced memorable and influential television series that redefine audience expectations,” said Berman, the Jackal Group’s CEO and chairman, in a statement. “We are looking forward to collaborating with him on a new wave of programming.”
Auerbach recently served as exec VP of NBCUniversal’s Wilshire Studios, where he worked on expanding the studio by selling more than 35 shows. Prior to that, he co-founded and led Go Go Luckey Entertainment, the production company behind shows including MTV’s “Laguna Beach.” He has also served as an executive producer on MTV’s “Punk’d,” Fox’s “Big Deal” and “The X Show.” He also tapped Jon Stewart to host the short-lived sketch comedy series “You Wrote It You Watch It.”
The Jackal Group is a co-venture with Fox Networks Group. Its other projects include a feature film based on Martin Blanks’ play “The Law of Return,” about spy Jonathan Pollard, as well as a film version of Alice LaPlante’s New York Times bestselling thriller “Turn of Mind.”
