The fate of Harington’s character, Jon Snow, has been fervently speculated over by the media and fans alike ever since the season five finale closed with Snow’s apparent death at the hands of the Night’s Watch.
But new grainy photos of Harington on set in Belfast have surfaced via the Daily Mail, prompting hope for Snow’s diehard fans.
This photographic evidence raises questions about the circumstances of Snow’s survival (make that his resurrection?), since HBO president Michael Lombardo told journalists in July that “dead is dead is dead. He be dead.” (Fans have long noted that his death coincided with the arrival of priestess Melisandre at the Wall.)
Harington himself has been coy about the details of his involvement with the series going forward, but recently suggested that he’ll return. “The important thing is that I now know exactly how long I am still under contract,” he teased. “Let’s just say that ‘Game of Thrones’ will remain a part of my life for a while, I’ll probably be in my thirties when it’s over.”
“Game of Thrones” returns to HBO with a sixth season in spring 2016.
