Gail Berman has teamed with scribe Robert Rodat to develop a drama series revolving around the legendary rivalry between newspaper magnates William Randloph Hearst and Joseph Pulitzer.
“Park Row” marks one of the first major pieces of business for Berman since launching her Jackal Group banner with Fox last year. There’s no word yet on a network for the project.
“As is often the case, true-life events make for great drama. The legendary rivalry between Hearst and Pulitzer offers a broad and rich canvas from which to create an engaging, entertaining and impactful television series,” Berman said. “Robert is a master of storytelling and capturing gripping human drama, and to have such a talented and accomplished screenwriter at the helm truly elevates this project.”
Project, set in the 1890s, focuses on the famed New York newspaper circulation wars among Hearst and Pulitzer.
Rodat’s range of screen credits include “Saving Private Ryan,” and he also created and exec produces the TNT sci-fi drama “Falling Skies.” He will exec produce “Park Row” with Berman.
