‘From Dusk Till Dawn’ Gets Season 3 on El Rey

From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series” will continue its rise, as El Rey Network announced Monday that it has ordered a third season of the TV series inspired by Robert Rodriguez’s 1996 Miramax movie.

“I’m so friggin excited that we are moving forward with another season of ‘From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series,'” said Rodriguez, who launched the cabler with Univision in 2013. “This show has a passionate following, and I just love making it and directing episodes. We have a killer cast and the characters have gotten even more layered and magnetic and I can’t wait to take this story even further.”

The supernatural crime saga centers on brothers Seth and Richie Gecko, played by D.J. Cotrona and Zane Holtz. It is produced by Miramax in association with Rodriguez International Pictures, FactoryMade Ventures and Sugarcane Entertainment. The season two finale, which airs at 9 p.m. Tuesday on El Rey, features guest star Demi Lovato and promises an “explosive showdown with the dark and sinister Lord Malvado (Esai Morales) and his lethal henchman, The Regulator (Danny Trejo).”

“Renewing the show for a third season seemed only natural given the tremendous team involved, led of course by Robert Rodriguez, [showrunner] Carlos Coto, our stellar cast, and our fascinating ‘Dusk’ universe that is like a never-ending well for unique storytelling,” said Zanne Devine, Miramax’s exec v.p. of film & TV.
