“Reports in five states said a strange virus is going around, so if you’re not feeling well, go home and take care of yourselves,” says a voice in the clip just before panning to what seems to be a zombie.
The companion series, which has been handed straight-to-series two season order, got its name on Friday, but specific plot details are being kept mostly under wraps. What has been revealed is that it will be set in Los Angeles with a different set of characters and storyline, and that it will take place in the early days of the zombie apocalypse before jumping forward in time.
Cliff Curtis, Kim Dickens, Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey will star in “Fear the Walking Dead.” Robert Kirkman, who created the comicbook series on which the AMC show is based, will exec produce with “Walking Dead” veterans Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero and David Alpert. Dave Erickson will exec produce and serve as showrunner, and co-wrote and co-created the pilot with Kirkman.
Season one of “Fear the Walking Dead” is set to debut this summer with six episodes, and season two is set for next year.
