AMC has launched a web series for “Fear the Walking Dead,” which will premiere this fall during “The Walking Dead’s” Season 6 run.

Titled “Fear the Walking Dead: Flight 462,” the 16-part web series follows a group of passengers aboard a commercial airplane during an early outbreak. Throughout the short episodes, viewers will see the plane and the lives of its passengers put in jeopardy, once they discover an infected traveler.

“Flight 462” will debut on Oct. 4 on AMC.com and will then air during two commercial breaks during “The Walking Dead’s” Season 6 premiere on Oct. 11. Following the web series’ premiere, the rest of the episodes, which are each less than one minute long, will bow every Sunday, both online and on TV during the flagship show.

“‘Flight 462’ is a great extension of the world of ‘Fear’ and will engage fans across multiple platforms with another riveting story set at the start of the fall of civilization,” said Joel Stillerman, president of original programming and development for AMC and SundanceTV. “We are thrilled to be collaborating with Dave Erickson and David Wiener on another piece of original content. Watching how they’ll bring one of these new characters to the second season of ‘Fear’ will be really exciting for viewers to follow.”

As previously reported by Variety, the web series will bridge the gap between “The Walking Dead” Season 6 and “Fear the Walking Dead” Season 2, which returns with 15 episodes in 2016.

In a fun twist, one of the characters from the web series will join the Season 2 cast of “Fear,” which is “The Walking Dead’s” spinoff series.

“Fear the Walking Dead: Flight 462” is written by L. Signorino and Mike Zunic and directed by “Fear” director of photography Michael McDonough. “Fear” showrunner and exec producer Dave Erickson and co-exec producer David Wiener will produce.
