ABC has officially greenlit the pilot for medical comedy “Dr. Ken,” starring Ken Jeong, Variety has learned.
Jeong will star, write and co-exec produce the 30-minute laffer, along with writers Jared Stern and Mike O’Connell. The “Hangover” actor will play a frustrated HMO doctor juggling his career, marriage and parenting, but succeeding at none of them.
Stern will also serve as an exec producer with John Davis and John Fox of Davis Entertainment, and Mike Sikowitz. O’Connell will co-exec produce with Jeong. Sony Television and ABC Studios will produce.
Jeong is currently guest starring on “Glee’s” final season, as the father of Brittany (Heather Morris), and returns to “Community” in the 13-episode sixth season, which premieres March 17 on Yahoo Screen.
