Derek Hough is stepping away from the ballroom — for now.

Hough is leaving “Dancing With the Stars” for the upcoming 20th season but will return for Season 21, ABC has confirmed.

The “DWTS” pro, who joined the competition series in its fifth season, is taking a temporary leave to join Radio City Music Hall’s limited production “New York Spring Spectacular,” which debuts in March for its seven-week run.

Hough will play the male lead, Jack, opposite “Nashville’s” Laura Benanti, Madison Square Garden Entertainment and Weinstein Live announced Tuesday. The limited show begins previews on March 12 and runs through May 3.

“I am ecstatic that I’ll be able to extend my passion for performing to the Great Stage of Radio City Music Hall in New York Spring Spectacular,” Hough said in a statement. “Performing at Radio City Music Hall in a show that celebrates everything that is beloved about New York City is a dream. I can’t wait to show fans this production…it’s going to be like nothing they’ve seen me in before.”

Hough has won the “DWTS” mirror ball trophy five times, and was most recently paired with YouTube star Bethany Mota on Season 19.

In other “Dancing” news, judge Len Goodman will be back for Season 20, despite conflicting reports, a source close to the show confirms to Variety.
