Colin Jost Quietly Gives Up ‘Saturday Night Live’ Co-Head Writer Post

Colin Jost has quietly dropped down off his perch as one of “Saturday Night Live’s” three co-head writers.

The “Weekend Update” co-anchor remains an active part of the writing team, but has decided to focus on his duties as writer and co-anchor of “SNL’s” faux newscast. Jost has also been active in writing features, including the Lorne Michaels-produced “Staten Island Summer” that was released this past summer.

Rob Klein and Bryan Tucker remain at the helm of the “SNL” writing staff. Jost has been with the show since 2005 and co-head writer since 2012.

Splitsider was first to report on the title shuffle, which took effect at the beginning of the season.
