Cirque du Soleil is partnering with 20th Century Fox Television to develop live-action, primetime scripted television. The partnership will likely focus on drama projects.

“Our goal with this partnership is not to televise our live performances, but rather create content in the primetime scripted arena that will elevate the genre by drawing from Cirque’s creative vision,” said Jacques Méthé, president of Cirque du Soleil Média.

Jonnie Davis, prexy of creative affairs for 20th TV, described Cirque du Soleil as “vibrant, colourful and mind-bending.” The performing arts org blends circus-style acrobatics with elements of theater and street art. “We think the combination of Cirque and Twentieth is a perfect fit,” he said.

Fox is already searching for writers to work on Cirque-themed original series.
