Producers on “Chicago Tonight” at WTTW-TV in Chicago have voted to join SAG-AFTRA.
The Friday vote among the full- and part-time producers was part of a National Labor Relations Board election.
“Producers at ‘Chicago Tonight’ look forward to exercising the same rights to collective bargaining currently enjoyed by other union members already working at WTTW, including the on-air talent, engineers and directors,” said the WTTW Producers Unit in a statement.
SAG-AFTRA said it filed the petition with the NLRB after management refused to recognize the performers union as the collective bargaining agent for the producers.
WTTW is a PBS member television station. It’s part of Window to the World Communications.
WTTW did not respond immediately to a request for comment.
