CBS News has tapped CNN alum Christa Robinson as head of communications.
Robinson takes over the department from Sonya McNair, who left the Eye last month. Robinson will oversee media relations, public affairs and communications strategies for the news division. She reports to CBS News president David Rhodes and CBS Corp. communications chief Gil Schwartz.
“Christa is a top-notch executive who has great knowledge of journalism and of communication strategy, and that is a terrific combination,” Rhodes said. “As we grow audience across all distribution channels, it’s essential we have the right person to tell our story. I look forward to working with Christa to shine a light on the great programming and original reporting our correspondents and producers do every day.”
Robinson led PR and communications for CNN and its related platforms for more than a decade. Most recently, she had a brief stint as chief communications officer for Tribune Media. Earlier in her career she worked as director of PR for the Clinton administration’s domestic policy council, among other governmental affairs posts.
