Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, the creators of “How I Met Your Mother,” have inked an overall deal with Sony Pictures Television, Variety has confirmed.

Under the new three-year pact, the pair will develop and produce new projects for the studio through their Bays/Thomas Productions banner. First reported by Deadline, the hefty multimillion-dollar development deal, which is reportedly worth up to eight figures, is the result of a big bidding war between five studios.

Bays and Thomas will also move their production company to New York, after spending over a decade on the West Coast, as the Los Angeles-shot “HIMYM” spanned nine seasons on CBS. The duo will hire a new exec and will work on projects with writers both in NYC and LA.

Both are repped by UTA.
