WATCH: ‘Sleepy Hollow’ Duo Visits ‘Bones’ Team for a Crossover Favor (EXCLUSIVE)

Fox’s “Bones” and “Sleepy Hollow” are getting into the Halloween spirit with a one-night crossover event on Oct. 29, and if Variety’s exclusive sneak peek from the “Sleepy Hollow” installment is anything to go by, things are a little awkward between the crime-solving teams.

Despite the tension — and Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan’s (Emily Deschanel) desire to leave work early to put the finishing touches on their kids’ Halloween costumes — “Sleepy Hollow” showrunner Clifton Campbell says the two duos will find plenty in common in the spooky special episodes, which kick off when Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) and Agent Abbie Mills (Nicole Beharie) stop by the Jeffersonian to try and claim some headless remains.

“Pairing them up together is something that I think our fans and their fans will enjoy seeing as they process the same case together,” Campbell teases. “At a certain point midway, when we pass off from their episode to our episode, the supernatural really kicks in and it’s like looking at two sides of the same coin – you see what we were starting to sense in their hour get on its feet and come to life in our hour, and it requires a reunion of this brand new coupling to take us to the conclusion that we need on our side, and it reveals a lot about both characters.”

The crossover kicks off with the “Bones” installment Thursday at 8 p.m. on Fox.
