ABC Family Casts ‘Homeland’ & ‘Glee’ Alums in Tim Kring’s Supernatural Pilot ‘Beyond’

With the cast rounded out, production on “Beyond,” Tim Kring’s pilot at ABC Family, will begin next week.

Callan McAuliffe (“Homeland”) will lead the supernatural drama from the “Heroes” creator, starring as Holden, a young man who wakes up in a hospital not realizing he’s been in a coma for 12 years, emotionally still a teenager, physically an adult, and possibly in possession of supernatural powers.

Jordan Calloway, who’s no stranger to ABC Family with credits including “Switched at Birth” and upcoming addiction drama “Recovery Road,” will play Holden’s childhood best friend; Dilan Gwyn (“DaVinci’s Demons”) will star as Holden’s love interest; Romy Rosemont, best known for playing Cory Monteith’s onscreen “Glee” mom, has been cast as Holden’s mother; Michael McGrady (“Ray Donovan,” “American Crime Story”) will play Holden’s father; and Burkely Duffield (“The Tomorrow People”) will play Holden’s younger brother.

Created, written and exec produced by Adam Nussdorf (“Once Upon a Time in Wonderland”),”Beyond” hails from Imperative Entertainment and Automatik, with Kring, Zak Kadison, Justin Levy and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones serving as exec producers.

The pilot marks the second supernatural project in the works at the cabler, with the “Shadowhunters” series, based on “The Mortal Instruments” franchise, currently filming.
