LONDON — Leading international production and distribution company All3Media, which is owned jointly by Discovery Communications and Liberty Global, has appointed Sara Geater as its chief operating officer.

All3Media comprises 21 companies, including Bentley Prods. (“Midsomer Murders”), Company Pictures (“Wolf Hall,” “The White Queen”), Neal Street Prods. (“Penny Dreadful”), Optomen (“Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares”), Studio Lambert (“Undercover Boss”) and Zoo Productions (“Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?”).

Geater, who recently served as chair of U.K. producers’ body PACT, was formerly CEO of FremantleMedia U.K. Prior to this, she was head of commercial affairs at broadcaster Channel 4, following a stint as director of rights and business affairs at the BBC, where she negotiated the first Codes of Practice between the BBC and the independent sector.

Geater has also served as head of film and TV at Avalon, head of production at Miramax Films and as a Channel 4 drama co-production executive.

Geater assumes the role immediately, taking over from previous COO Jane Turton, who was promoted to All3Media chief executive officer earlier this year.

Turton said: “(Sara Geater’s) experience in television production, talent management, rights and deal-making is going to be a huge asset to the group as we grow the business both in the U.K. and overseas.”
