LONDON — Jane Horrocks and Jim Broadbent have joined the voice-cast of the new season of kids’ TV show “Teletubbies,” which DHX Media is licensing.

The new season, which will air on the BBC’s kids’ channel CBeebies in the U.K. later this year, will feature the same characters — Tinky Winky, Dipsy, La-La and Po — and styling as before, but will be “visually enhanced, bringing a refreshed and contemporary look and feel to one of the world’s most well-known properties,” DHX Media said.

The series will feature a number of new elements, one of which is the Tubby Phone voiced by Horrocks, who is best known for playing Bubbles in “Absolutely Fabulous.”

Also joining the cast is up-and-coming actor and comedian Daniel Rigby, who will narrate the show. Rigby is best known for his work as a stand-up comic, as well as his BAFTA award-winning performance in the 2011 TV film “Eric and Ernie.”

Also in the cast are television and radio presenter Fearne Cotton and Jim Broadbent, best known for the “Harry Potter” franchise, “Moulin Rouge” and “Bridget Jones’s Diary.” Broadbent will voice the Voice Trumpets, alongside Cotton. Up-and-coming actress Antonia Thomas, who was in “Misfits” and “Sunshine on Leith,” will narrate the opening and closing lines.
