ITV Commissions Season Four of Jeremy Piven Starrer ‘Mr Selfridge’

LONDON — U.K. commercial broadcaster ITV has commissioned season four of period drama “Mr Selfridge,” starring “Entourage” star Jeremy Piven. The third season has its U.S. premiere on March 29 on PBS’ “Masterpiece.”

In season four, Piven will reprise his role as the colorful but troubled Harry Selfridge, and Katherine Kelly, from U.K. soap “Coronation Street,” is set to return as the socialite Lady Mae Loxley. The series will also feature a major new character played by “Line of Duty’s” Sacha Dhawan and two new guest roles for newcomers Lottie Tolhurst and Mimi Ndiweni.

Series regulars Tom Goodman-Hill, Ron Cook, Amanda Abbington, Amy Beth Hayes, Trystan Gravelle, Sacha Parkinson and Samuel West return.

The drama is inspired by the turbulent life of charismatic American retail entrepreneur Harry Gordon Selfridge. This fourth season, which comprises 10 episodes, focuses on his dramatic fall as he loses hold of the empire and social status that he worked so hard to create.

Helen Raynor (“Baker Boys,” “Doctor Who”) is the lead writer, working alongside Kate O’Riordan (“The Bad Mother’s Handbook,” “The Kindness of Strangers”), James Payne, Matt Jones, Hamish Wright and new writer Ben Morris.

Lindy Woodhead, author of “Shopping, Seduction and Mr Selfridge,” the book that inspired the series, continues in her role as adviser on retail history.

Filming will take place on location in the replica of the Selfridge’s shop floor that is housed in a former carpet warehouse in North-west London.

Dominic Barlow (“The Mill,” “The Crash,” “Garrow’s Law”) will return as series producer, and ITV Studios’ Kate Lewis (“Lightfields,” “Vera,” “Marchlands”) will executive produce alongside Raynor. Rebecca Eaton exec produces for WGBH.

“Mr Selfridge” is distributed internationally by ITV Studios Global Entertainment.
