LONDON — Colin Callender’s Playground Entertainment continues to strengthen its U.K. team with the executive hire of Tom Leggett as director of development, Playground Television, based in the London office.
Leggett, who was most recently senior development editor at Film4, will be responsible for building the company’s slate and expanding on the recent successes such as “Wolf Hall.” His role will include working with creative talent and broadcasters in the U.K.
Leggett will work alongside managing director of Playground Television Louise Pedersen and creative director Sophie Gardiner.
He worked in development at Element Pictures and in production and acquisitions for the Weinstein Company. His credits at Film4 include “’71’” “The Riot Club,” “High-Rise,” “Mr. Turner” and “12 Years a Slave.” At the Weinstein Company he worked on films including “My Week With Marilyn,” “Submarine” and “The King’s Speech.”
Pedersen said: “The boundaries between film and television are becoming more and more blurred, and Tom’s deep ties to the film community will be a dynamic addition to our creative team. His appointment further signals our intention to develop and produce innovative and high quality world-class drama projects working with a wealth of talent.”
