CANNES — The Mark Gordon Co. has two new TV shows moving forward: U.S. network ABC has given a put pilot commitment to the company’s crime drama “Conviction,” and the Mark Gordon Co. is also in talks to produce procedural “Darkness Falls” with MGC and Germany’s ProSiebenSat.1.
“Conviction” is co-created by Liz Friedman (“Elementary”), who will write the series, and Liz Friedlander (“The Following”), who directs the pilot. The show centers on Carter Morrison, the daughter of a leading political family who takes a job as the chief of a Los Angeles-based legal unit that examine cases where an innocent person may have been wrongfully convicted.
“Darkness Falls” centers on a two-person FBI team that goes to small towns to solve terrible murders. It is based on a script by Erica Messer (“Criminal Minds”) and Janine Sherman Barrios (“Criminal Minds,” “ER”). The series will be exec produced by the Mark Gordon Co.’s Mark Gordon and Nick Pepper. Koby Gal-Raday, senior VP international co-production and documentaries, will oversee the project for ProSieben. EOne Television will handle international sales.
