Stockholm’s B-Reel Starts Production on Crime Series ‘Before We Die’

Stockholm-based film and TV shingle B-Reel will start production next week on “Before We Die,” a crime series written by Niklas Rockstrom and Wilhelm Behrman.

Simon Kaijser, who had a big breakthrough with SVT miniseries ”Don’t Ever Wipe Tears Without Gloves” in 2012 recently directed “Life in Squares” for the BBC, is on board to direct the first episodes.

The series is produced by B-Reel in co-production with SVT, ZDF,  Filmregion Stockholm-Malardalen/Film Capital Stockholm. World sales are being handled by ZDF Enterprises.

“More than a crime series, I would say ‘Before We Die’ is a drama thriller, where the thriller elements and the family ties are intertwined in a dense story,” said producer Fredrik Heinig at B-Reel, who added that series such as BBC’s  “Happy Valley” and “Line of Duty,” RTE’s “Love/Hate” and Bo Widerberg’s police dramas were influences, “but of course also create a universe of our own.”

Series stars Marie Richardson, Adam Palsson and Alexej Manvelov. Richardson is one of Sweden’s most recognized actors, with a track record ranging from Ingmar Bergman and “Eyes Wide Shut” to contemporary Nordic crime. She also played the mother in “Don’t Ever Wipe Tears Without Gloves,” which starred Palsson Newcomer Manvelov is in Stockhom festival films “Stallion, “Audition” and “Occupied.”

B-Reel’s Fredrik Heinig produces with SVT’s Maria Nordenberg.
