The series, which comprises six, one-hour episodes, will air on AMC Global within 24 hours of its fall premiere on AMC in the U.S.
“Into the Badlands” toplines Daniel Wu, a Hong Kong-based Chinese-American actor, director and producer, who has appeared in more than 60 films. The cast is completed by Emily Beecham (“28 Weeks Later,” “The Village”), Sarah Bolger (“The Tudors,” “In America”) and Oliver Stark (“The Adventurer: The Curse of the Midas Box,” “My Hero”).
The show, which is inspired by the classic Chinese tale “Journey to the West,” tells the story of a warrior and a young boy who embark on a journey across a dangerous land to find enlightenment.
David Dobkin (“The Judge,” “Wedding Crashers,” “Shanghai Knights”) will be the series director. The show is created by writers/showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar (“Shanghai Noon,” “Smallville”). Gough and Millar are exec producing along with Wu, Oscar-nominated producers Stacy Sher and Michael Shamberg (“Django Unchained,” “Contagion”), and martial arts filmmaker Stephen Fung.
Entertainment One reps international rights to the show in all media as part of its multi-year output agreement with AMC Networks.
AMC Global recently announced the launch of “Fear the Walking Dead,” conceived as a companion series to hit show “The Walking Dead.”
