Maia Brings a Rustic Fusion Mix to the Sunset Strip

Sunset Strip staple Mirabelle lasted more than 40 years, but its successor Yellowtail has already morphed into Maia.

Asian touches remain from the short-lived high-end sushi spot, such as a Pink Cadillac cocktail with vodka, lychee, green tea and guava. Also to drink: try a Sage Against the Machine cocktail with Pisco and hibiscus or a sangria pitcher kit with a choice of fruits and mixers.

At dinner, there’s a selection of sushi rolls, sashimi and the newly de rigueur poke selection. Fusion-style dishes include braised short ribs with red miso, filet mignon with yuzu sake glaze and lobster quesadillas.

The dining room now has a rustic-chic feel with tall wooden tables, backlit bar and tree growing in the middle of the space, while the patio overlooking the city remains the place for a special date. Later in the evening, a DJ appears; soon, another bar and fire-pit-equipped balcony will open upstairs.
