Longtime Brentwood favorite Coral Tree Cafe gets an upscale big brother with Baltaire, an elegant steakhouse from the same owners with a spacious, relaxed patio and stylish mid-century decor that’s open for lunch and dinner. Mint-green settees cozy up to sleek wood tables, while a central bar shows off floor-to-ceiling whiskey selections. The beef-friendly wine list offers 30 selections by the glass and more than 450 bottles. The adjacent cocktail lounge warms up the space with settees, a fireplace and baby grand piano, and a private dining room can host exclusive events. Recently spotted at a table with a view into the showcase kitchen were actors Jason Segel and Frank Stallone.

Eat: Dry-aged, grass-fed, Wagyu or prime steaks come in sizes from 8 oz. to 40 oz.. For starters, try kanpachi crudo with Oro Blanco grapefruit or oysters on the half shell. Non-beef eaters will find plenty of alternatives such as the organic Scottish salmon. Sides are as worthy as the mains, especially miso butter mushrooms and garlicky sauteed spinach.

Drink: Larose De Gruaud Bordeaux blend goes well with the dry-aged steak; a customized Baltaire mint julep can be made with a choice of spirits; Pappy Van Winkle 23-year bourbon.
