“I’m over the moon,” Jamie told Variety. “She’s humble, she’s never in trouble,” he said, before turning to find his daughter. “I don’t know where she went!” While Corinne mingled and enjoyed the spotlight, Jamie caught up with actress Jill Marie Jones and Sir Patrick Stewart. The trio chatted at length and recorded a jovial video on Jamie’s phone together.
“Throughout the years I’ve grown up watching my dad establish himself as a well-respected actor,” said the younger Foxx. Her father is a Golden Globe winner and two-time nominee. “I’m honored that HFPA has given me the opportunity to now share the same stage where he’s been recognized for some of his greatest accomplishments.” She is a senior at the University of Southern California and recently shot a campaign for The Icing.
“Like her father, she leads a fine example of following her dreams and we can’t wait to see what she does next,” said Lorenzo Soria, president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. The HFPA-hosted event — where mini Moet & Chandon champagne and Fiji water bottles helped wash down a buffet of beef, mashed potatoes and risotto — attracted many celebrity guests.
Bryan Cranston urged partygoers to see his new film, “Trumbo,” which opened Nov. 6. “It’s a small film with an important message: civil liberties,” he told Variety, advocating free speech and noting how the issues are just as relevant today as they were in 1947, the year the story is set.
Meanwhile, Sarah Silverman stood closely beside Michael Shannon. Vanessa Hudgens arrived with her boyfriend, Austin Butler, and posed for pics with Sarah Hyland (the two both rocking dresses with cutouts). Gina Rodriguez made a late entrance, before mingling with O’Shea Jackson Jr. and Diego Boneta. Anthony Anderson chatted with Tracee Ellis Ross. And just when the night seemed over, a birthday cake was presented to Soria’s wife, Lilla Bausits. Guests including Rodriguez, Jeremy Piven, Christian Slater and Fred Savage gathered round for a serenade — and Slater and Savage continued a chummy conversation afterwards.
