Guillermo Del Toro and Duplass Brothers Lead Academy’s Fall Programming Slate

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will kick off its fall programming slate with the Duplass brothers and Guillermo del Toro.

The Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills will host the events, with “This Is Duplass: An Evening with Jay and Mark” taking place Oct. 6; “In the Labyrinth: A Conversation with Guillermo del Toro” on Oct. 7; and “Passing Beauty: A Conversation with Hou Hsiao-Hsien” being held Oct. 13.

Other events that will be presented from October through early December will take place at the Linwood Theater in Hollywood, including the screening of Fellini’s “Amarcord” on Oct. 14 and a look back at the first days of Disneyland with “Hollywood Home Movies” on Oct. 24.

A new restoration of 1943’s “Heaven Can Wait” is set for Nov. 9 and a lecture highlighting director Lois Weber before a screening of “Shoes” will take place Dec. 3. The 75th anniversary holiday presentation of “Remember the Night” will also be shown Dec. 10 at the Linwood Dunn Theater.
