Wayne Brady will have some big boots — red, thigh-high, sequined, stiletto boots — to fill on Broadway this fall, as the actor steps into the musical “Kinky Boots” in the starring role of drag queen Lola.

Brady takes over for Billy Porter, who won a Tony for his turn in the show in 2013 and has played more than 800 performances in the role. He’ll exit in November, with Brady taking over days before Thanksgiving, usually a big-money holiday frame for Broadway.

Brady, the host of CBS game show “Let’s Make a Deal,” previously appeared on Broadway in a 2004 stint in “Chicago,” and also starred in the 2010 Hollywood Bowl staging of “Rent” and in last year’s Pasadena Playhouse production of “Kiss Me, Kate.”

In “Kinky,” Brady will appear as a drag queen who helps a new friend save his family’s struggling shoe business. The musical, with a score by Cyndi Lauper and book by Harvey Weinstein, emerged as the champ of the 2013 Tony derby, nabbing six trophies including the top award for new musical.

Brady joins the production just as the show launches its international life, with a Toronto production that opened in June and stagings on the West End and in Australia set to open this fall. Porter plays his final performance in Broadway’s “Kinky Boots” Nov. 20 (he’ll go on to appear in upcoming spring musical “Shuffle Along”) with Brady taking over Nov. 21.
