‘The Sound of Music,’ ‘Titanic the Musical’ on Ahmanson’s New Season

The Center Theatre Group’s 2015-16 season at the Ahmanson will include four Tony Award-winning musicals, according to an announcement on Monday.

The Ahmanson’s 49th season will open with a new production of Rodgers and Hammerstein classic “The Sound of Music,” followed by “The Bridges of Madison County” (pictured) and “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder,” last year’s Tony winner for musical. The season will close with a new production of “Titanic the Musical.”

“The season is a true celebration of the musical theater art form we all love,” said CTG artistic director Michael Ritchie. “It’s a season of lush musical scores, reimagined classics, daring new comedies and gripping theatrical experiences.”

A fifth production in the season will be announced at a later date.

The season will begin Sept. 20 and run through June 26, 2016. Tickets are available by subscription only and can be purchased online at CenterTheatreGroup.org/Season.
