The Drama Desk, one of the New York theater organizations that hands out awards around Tony time, has set the dates for its 60th annual ceremony, with nominations set to be announced April 23, the same day as the eligibility cutoff for the 2015-16 Tony Awards.

The Drama Desk Awards will be doled out May 31 in a ceremony presented by theater-avid website TheaterMania.com and produced by Joey Parnes Prods. (“A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder”). Gretchen Shugart, the CEO of TheaterMania and the managing exec producer of the Drama Desks, will exec produce with Robert R. Blume and David S. Stone, in association with Renee McCurry.

Bill Rosenfield writes and Jack Cummings III will direct the show at midtown Manhattan venue Town Hall.

The awards from the Drama Desk — a group made up of critics, scribes, editors and publishers — have been handed out since 1955. The organization is one of several that honors theater titles in late spring, including the New York Drama Critics Circle, the Drama League and the Outer Critics Circle. All of them announce winners before the Tonys, this year set for June 7.
