Sam Neill Joins Cast of ‘Tommy’s Honor’

Sam Neill has joined the cast of Jason Connery’s “Tommy’s Honor.”

Peter Mullan stars as golfing pioneer Tom Morris in the true story of Morris’ complex relationship with his son Tommy (Jack Lowden), who matched his father’s achievement of four Open wins, managing the feat in consecutive championships. Although both father and son profited from their share of rich gamblers’ side bets on their matches, times were still hard and life for the Morris family in mid-Victorian Scotland brought tragedy.

Neill will play Alexander Boothby, the Captain of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews. Ophelia Lovibond also stars as Tommy’s wife. The film is current in production in Scotland.

“I am thrilled to have an actor of this calibre join our great cast,” said Connery of Neill’s casting. “He brings another element to the film with his experience and captivating on screen persona.”

Connery directs from a screenplay by Pamela Marin and Kevin Cook, adapted from Cook’s novel, which won the United States Golf Association’s Book of the Year award in 2007. It is produced by Keith Bank of KB Partners, Bob Last of SellOutPictures, JimKreutzer of Wind Chill Media Group and Tim Moore of Top Dawg Productions with support from Creative Scotland. Timeless Films are handling international sales and will introduce buyers to the project in Toronto.
