The list of funny stars and comical antics are endless in Peter Bogdanovich’s “She’s Funny That Way,” which marks his return to directing a theatrical feature after a 13-year absence.
The relationship comedy reunites “Marley & Me” co-stars Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston and also stars Imogen Poots, Kathryn Hahn, Will Forte and Rhys Ifans. Wilson plays a married Broadway director who falls in love with a prostitute (Poots) and helps advance her acting career.
The project premiered last August at the Venice Film Festival, but was first conceived in the 1990s as a starring vehicle for John Ritter. It was shelved after the actor’s untimely death in 2003. Bogdanovich co-scripted the screwball comedy with his ex-wife Louise Stratten.
Previously titled “Squirrels to the Nuts,” “She’s Funny That Way” hits theaters on May 1.
